Were the Fertigs from Woodbridge or Perth Amboy?

The Fertigs owned a store in perth amboy, but (Jerry?) Fertig & Family lived a couple of houses from us on Green Street.
I also believe the name Melnick should be on your list. Arthur Melnick was a classmate & friend, his Mom's name (I think) was "Henny."

Maybe someone else can 'backstop' me on this but I do recall my Mom cried for days about the death ..during childbirth I seem to remember...of a young woman named Gussie Vamos who I know played mah jongg with my Mom's circle and I believe was a member of the congregation.

I remember my mother buying socks and underwear at Fertig's in Perth Amboy. What was Bernie's last name - the one who owned the bicycle shop on Main Street? I'll add Vamos to the names list.

Add Bass to the list.
Susan Bass lives in Jerusalem, in the German Colony.

Was there a Tannenbaum family in Woodbridge? Hey, Richard - which Richard are you?

Gussie and Lavy Najavits were my cousins. Their children were Pauline (Patnoi), Morris and Joseph Najavits.Gussie and Lavy had a store, and Gussie, also called Gitel, would cater events. They were among the founders of Adath Israel. Lavy was a Hebrew scholar from what was Hungary at the time.
